The 7th annual Polar Plunge will be held on Saturday, February 11th, 2012 at Still Waters Resort down Indian Point Road. Very brave and adventurous men and women from around the area are preparing their costumes and swim wear for their “polar” dip into icy Table Rock Lake. Their Reason for Freezin’ is to support the amazing athletes of Special Olympics Missouri! All proceeds from this frosty event benefit training and competition for the 1,700+ Special Olympics Missouri athletes here in Southwest Missouri.

Registration for the event starts at noon on Saturday at Still Waters Resort at Table Rock Lake and the plunge starts promptly at 2:00. [adsenseyu1]

All plunging Polar Bears with the required minimum donations collected are eligible to receive an official polar plunge long sleeve tee, bragging rights for freezing their fur off, and free admission to the post plunge party at Best Western Branson Inn and Conference Center ¼ mile West of Silver Dollar City. We will present prizes for top fundraisers (individual, team,

and school) and of course award the coveted Golden Plunger Award for the Polar Bear judged as having the best costume! The post plunge party will also host a silent auction with some really great items to bid on. With your help, this could be the event of the year!

The Polar Plunge is open to anyone 10 years or older who is a fan of having a good time for a good cause. Interested parties can register and plunge the day of the event, but the earlier you sign up the better. Participants are asked to raise a “Bear” minimum of $50 to take the plunge. This year Special Olympics Missouri hopes to have 250 or more people brave the icy waters to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Missouri.
