Branson PD issues 297 Tickets during crackdown

The Branson Police Department’s campaign to crack down on impaired drivers between August 19 and September 5 has resulted in 297 tickets being issued for numerous violations.
Twenty-one of the tickets were for driving while intoxicated.
“When we remove a drunk driver from the road, we’re all safer,” said Branson Police Chief Kent Crutcher. ”We will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to drive sober.”
In addition to the impaired driving citations, officers also issued 67 speeding tickets, 24 driving while suspended or revoked, 15 for not wearing seat belts, 118 for no proof of insurance, 12 for minors having alcohol and 40 other traffic violations.
Crutcher said its efforts like this that take impaired drivers and other unsafe motorists off the road and make travel in Missouri safer.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, driving while intoxicated remains one of the top causes of fatal crashes in Missouri. In 2010, 234 people were killed and 957 seriously injured in wrecks involving an impaired driver.
