Breast Cancer Awareness Flash Mob a Success
Skaggs Center for Women’s Health’s Breast Cancer Awareness flash mob dance at Branson Landing Saturday, October 8 was a success! More than 70 people with an 80 year age span came together to dance for this cause.
“I was stopped by so many people after the dance who felt the need to thank me for simply being part of something that had affected them personally,” said Rachel Morgan, RT (R) BBA, Skaggs Center for Women’s Health. “One woman told me how she was a breast cancer survivor of eight years. She explained how it may have just been a dance to us, but to her it was a message that people who don’t even know her came together to show their support for her battle.”
During the month of October, Skaggs Center for Women’s Health is encouraging prevention of breast cancer through early detection. “Baseline mammograms are key in detecting breast cancer,” says Morgan. “The baseline image can be used to compare to future screenings to determine if any changes have occurred.”
To celebrate women who take the step toward early detection of breast cancer, Skaggs Center for Women’s Health is entering names of women who receive a mammogram during the month of October into weekly drawings for various prizes. If you had a mammogram within the past twelve months, you can still enter to win a great prize. Visit www.skaggs.net for more details or to view the flash mob dance.
