Deputy who shot woman acted appropriately, sheriff says
Greene County Sheriff Jim Arnott said a preliminary investigation shows the deputy who fatally shot a woman during a traffic stop Tuesday evening acted appropriately.
Arnott said the woman, identified as 46-year-old Tammy L. Robinette (aka Tammy L. Campbell) of Mountain Grove, was believed to be intoxicated when she pointed a gun at the deputy.
The woman reportedly attempted to fire the gun at the deputy, but it is not yet clear if the weapon discharged.
Arnott said the deputy fired in response.
Robinette was pronounced dead at the scene on James River Freeway south of Interstate 44 in northeast Republic.
The incident began after multiple reports of a possible drunken driver were called in to Greene County dispatch.
