E-Verify bill to go to Springfield voters
The proposed E-Verify requirement for all Springfield businesses will go the voters after the Springfield City Council failed to pass the measure Tuesday evening.
The council voted in a tie, 4-4 with one member absent. The initiative petition has strong support among the Minuteman organization and several of Springfield’s major businesses already use the federal program that verifies a potential worker’s citizenship or visa status.
