Eureka Springs plans for St. Patty's Day parade

The Krewe of Blarney, headed by Dan Ellis, has confirmed this year’s St. Paddy Day Parade will roll downtown on Sat., March 17, at 2 p.m. The route begins at the Carnegie Library on Spring St., and ends at the Courthouse on Main.
Ellis said everyone will turn out in green, and added that anyone wearing the color is invited to join the parade.
He also announced this year’s Grand Marshal is Fire Chief Rhys Williams, who has been a member of the local community since 1979. Williams began as a fire department volunteer, moved on to being an Emergency Medical Technician, and after being hired in 1986 as a full time EMT/Firefighter worked his way up the ranks to Captain. He became chief in 2009.

Ellis noted that Robert Kramer, a former owner of Tall Pines Motel and local contractor who passed away in September of 2011, was often called upon to drive parade dignitaries in his 2004 gray Sebring. After his death the family followed his wishes and donated the convertible to the parade organizers. The car, now inscribed with “In Memory of Bob Kramer,” is the dedicated parade grand marshal’s vehicle. The Krewe of Blarney Halfast Walkin’ Klub will present the Archie Ryan Loving Cup Award in memoriam to Kramer at their Roast and Toast ceremony prior to the parade.

Following the parade, the Krewe of Blarney and the dignitaries will host an Irish Bash with entertainment and food at the Rowdy Beaver Tavern, to which the public is invited.
