Fire used to try and cover up two murders in Missouri
Investigators want to know who murdered a mid-Missouri man and his daughter, then set their home on fire over the Labor Day Weekend.
It happened Friday in the town of Auxvasse, in Callaway County.
Authorities responded to a fire andinside the charred mobile home they found, one body, then hours later a second.
An autopsy showed both died before the fire, and that both had likely been murdered.
They now believe the victims are the homeowner, Michael Wieberg, and his daughter Amanda Wieberg.
Sheriff Dennis Crane says, “The arson is basically we figure at this point, is to cover up and destroy evidence of the homicide. Now we’re looking for motives, what’s the motive behind it.”
Investigators were back at the scene Sunday, searching the perimeter for clues. They’ve also been interviewing associates of both victims.
