Cody Gossett, charged with Arson.

On Wednesday August 31, 2011 Lawrence County Deputies arrested Cody Gossett age 20 of Halltown for 2^nd Degree Arson. Gossett is a member of the Halltown Volunteer Fire Department.
Also arrested was Matthew A. Smith, age 23 and Christopher D. Smith, age 21, both of Mt. Vernon. Both Matthew and Christopher Smith were also charged with 2^nd Degree Burglary.
These arrests were made after investigations into several suspicious fires including two fires at abandoned residences, hay bale fires, and possible several other suspicious fires in the area. More charges are expected to be filed soon regarding additional fires as well as the possibility of charging additional suspects.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has also asked the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office for help in the continuing investigation.
