First glimpse of Kimberling City’s Vision Plan released
The students conducting the current Vision Plan for Kimberling City have announced a second community meeting, scheduled for Oct. 18 at the Kimberling Area Library, 7 p.m.
On their site, the students noted, “As we compile the information that we heard on Tuesday evening, there are many different ways to analyze it. Being so subjective, it’s easy to get lost or forget about ideas that may have sparked inspiration. Word clouds show the information in a visual sense that is easy to identify. Check them out! And as always, remember to let us know if you disagree, agree, or think of something new! Without your input, this process would result in something you were not happy with.”
During the first community workshop, residents identified needs within the city. The students have since compiled those needs and suggestions into word clouds which appear on their web site.
Among the concerns and suggestions were:
- A year round economy.
- Strong Community Identity.
- A Mixed Use Waterfront.
- Organization of Festivals.
- Incentives for New Businesses.
- Public Lake Access.
- Incentives for National Franchises.

I live here in Kimberling City. I have noticed that is no mention of the horrible, dangerous and long neglected parking lot in the center of town. According to the poll on the ozark sentinal page 79% of people responding felt that was our most urgent issue. However, I find this issue is not addressed anywhere in your recent posts. Can you tell us why?
There were several residents who made comments about the condition of the parking lot at the Kimberling City Shopping Center. However, the focus was mainly on what main goal Kimberling City needed to meet.
The parking lot issue is one that the students involved in the study are aware of, and it will likely be addressed in the methods the city needs to implement to improve the overall perception of Kimberling City.
The Ozarks Sentinel will outline some steps that are being discussed by some individuals that may address the conition of the parking lot, in an upcoming issue.
