Ice cream recall issued

Kroger is recalling ice cream in Missouri and nine other states because it may contain peanuts.
Consumers who bought cartons of Private Selection Extreme Moose Tracks Ice Cream  can return the product to stores for a refund or replacement.
People who are allergic to peanuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume the ice cream, Kroger warned in a statement. For those who are not allergic to peanuts, there is no danger, Kroger said.
In addition to Missouri, the recall includes Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio and northern Kentucky, South Carolina, and eastern Tennessee. The recall also includes Kroger stores in Illinois and Indiana that operate under the names Jay C, Food 4 Less (in the Chicago area), Owen’s, Pay Less and Scott’s.
More than 3 million Americans are allergic to peanuts, tree nuts or both, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. Peanut allergy affects 1.2 percent of children, but 20 percent of them outgrow it by age 6, the AAAAI says.
It is the most common cause of food allergy-related death, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.
