Man in custody for murder and attacking two others with a knife

Authorities in Springfield are investigating an apparent homicide in the northwest part of the city.
One man is dead, and at least two others suffered injuries during a knife fight in the 1300 block of Mt. Vernon Street about 4 p.m. Sunday.
A woman, who appeared to be bleeding from her leg, was treated at the scene and another woman said she was stabbed in the arm.
Police arrested 56-year-old Clarence Smith Sunday after an investigation at 1331 W. Mount Vernon in Springfield.
Police say the two women were injured at the home were, Misty Smith and Rhonda Cruse.
The body of 39-year-old Terry Brake was found inside the home.
Smith is facing 2nd degree murder charges in Brake’s death.
He’s being held in the Greene County Jail.
On July 12th authorities were called to a murder/suicide four houses away from Sunday’s stabbing.
