Missouri to fly state and national flags at half staff on 9/11
This Sunday (Sept. 11), the United States and Missouri flags at all government buildings statewide will be flown at half-staff to honor those who died in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. The lowering of the flags is in accordance with state law http://www.moga.mo.gov/statutes/C000-099/0090000134.HTM.
“In every part of Missouri on Sunday, people will stop and remember where they were ten years ago,” Gov. Jay Nixon said. “It will be a time to honor those whose lives were lost on that world-changing day, as well as a time to renew our resolve to safeguard our liberty and the many freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
“There are thousands of Missourians in the regular armed forces and in the National Guard who are overseas on this Sept. 11. They have put themselves in harm’s way on our behalf,” Gov. Nixon said. “These brave men and women should know that they and their families have our full support and gratitude.”
