Nixa’s fire chief calls it quits
Jimmy Sebree is no longer Nixa’s fire chief.
After being suspended in September for a month, following grievances filed by six employees and their union, Sebree tendered his resignation to the Nixa Fire Protection District’s Board.
The board of the Nixa Fire Protection District accepted Sebree’s resignation, which is effective Nov. 30.
In a news release, the district’s board said “The Board has expressed its appreciation for Chief Sebree’s years of service to the District, and the important role he has played in the advancement and growth of the District during that time.”
The IAFF, Local 3904, released a statement following Sevree’s resignation.
“Firefighters with Southern Missouri Professional Firefighters Local 3904 are anxious to help the District in any way they can to ensure that the next chief has the training, credentials and leadership skills necessary to lead the department,” said Lee Morris, president of Southern Missouri Professional Firefighters Local 3904.
“We wish Chief Sebree the best in all his future endeavors, and the firefighters of IAFF Local 3904 want to ensure everyone in our community that public safety will not be compromised during this transition in our fire district’s leadership. The firefighters of IAFF Local 3904 remain committed to providing the best public service to those they are sworn to protect and support the fire board in their duties to the community,” Morris said.
