37 year old, Kelly Lawler-Ackfeld, Springfield, died in what investigators are calling a suspicious fire at a home on the 2300 block of West Nottingham early Saturday morning.
Police say the woman was involved in a relationship with the owner of a house, Two points of origin of the fire were discovered , including one, set int he trunk of a car, parked in the garage of the house.
Greene County Sheriff’s Detectives and the Missouri State Fire Marshal spent most of the day Saturday sifting through charred debris for clues as to its origin.
Battlefield Fire Fighters and Greene County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the fire that was in the garage, upper, and lower levels.
It was the three locations of the fire that first aroused the suspicions of the fire marshal.

Late Saturday a man was taken in for questioning, but was later released.
An autopsy will take place on Monday and the fire continues ot be investigated as a possible arson/homicide case.

Lawler-Ackfeld had a judgment and Decree of Dissolution of Marriage entered on 07/17/2003 in Christian County. At that time she lived at 1570-7 S 14TH AVE APT 7, OZARk. Despite the court allowing her to restore her maiden name, she kept the last name of her former husband, ACKFELD , CHRISTOPHER PAUL, of Sparta. That marriage had no children.

Just a few months before her death, Lawler-Ackfield was battling several wage garnishments. Missouri’s Case Net shows:

In 2003, she was charged with DWI and paid a $350 fine and was sentenced to the Christian County SUBSTANCE ABUSE TRAFFIC OFFENDER PROGRAM.
