Parents of Lisa Irwin set conditions before they will agree to talk with police further
Police say that the siblings of missing infant Lisa Irwin may be interviewed later this week, but a lawyer for the parents of the 11-month-old girl who disappeared over three weeks ago says not so fast.
Irwin family attorney Cyndy Short says that Jeremy Irwin and Deborah Bradley, Lisa Irwin’s parents, will not be talking to police again unless police meet certain conditions, saying that trust between the couple and police has been shattered. She says that the parents have been reluctant to talk to police after they said that the questioning turned into accusations.
But Short did say that the family was currently considering the idea that the child’s two brothers will be interviewed about the case on Friday by a non-law enforcement specialist, not by detectives. The boys were last interviewed the day after their sister disappeared.
Police say that the parents have not been cooperating with their investigation into their child’s disappearance, an allegation that the family and their attorney deny.
Capt. Steve Young of the KCPD says that authorities are aware of the parent’s conditions for talking, saying, “We want them to sit down and do separate interviews and answer our questions.”
Young says that so far that hasn’t happened.
On Tuesday, officers said that there were no new developments in the search for Lisa Irwin, who was reported missing from her crib in her family’s home in the 3600 block of North Lister in the early morning hours of October 4th. Officers said that they have cleared nearly 800 tips so far, and despite the massive search for the missing baby, they still have the resources available to manage other criminal investigations across the city.
