REEDS SPRING HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS REVIEW
The Varsity Football team hosted Buffalo in a Central Ozark Conference game on September 30. The contest also served as Homecoming. The Wolves fell to the Bison by the score of 36-6. The lone touchdown for the Wolves came in the fourth quarter on a 19 yard pass from Quarterback Easton Flaugh to Dallas Dodson. The Jr. Varsity and Freshmen teams hosted Hollister on September 26. The Jr. Varsity team lost their contest while the Freshmen team won their game. The seventh and eighth grade teams traveled to Buffalo on September 27. Both teams won their games for the night. The Varsity team will travel to Marshfield for a COC contest on October 7 while the Jr. Varsity team will host Marshfield on October 10. The seventh and eighth grade teams will host Bolivar on October 11.
The Varsity and Jr. Varsity Softball teams traveled to Buffalo on September 27. The Varsity ladies came away with a 14-9 victory over the Lady Bison. Hailee Mason led the way for the Lady Wolves with three hits and four RBI’s in the game including a home run. Morgan Cantrell also had four RBI’s as she had two hits in the contest including a home run and a double. Sydney Mason also added three hits including a home run and a double. Marley Harmon and Kenya Kling collected three hits each in the game. Pitcher Andrea Studer struck out ten. The Varsity and Jr. Varsity teams hosted Sparta in a non-conference game on September 30. The game was the last home contest of the season and the team’s lone senior, Hailee Mason, was recognized prior to the contest. Marley Harmon led the way to a 10-0 victory for the Lady Wolves as she collected three RBI’s with two hits including a home run. Sydney Mason also had two hits and three RBI’s to aid in the winning effort. The Jr. Varsity team lost their contest at Buffalo but defeated Sparta in their games for the week. The Varsity ladies will begin play in the Class 3 District Tournament on October 7. The Lady Wolves are the top seeded team in the tournament.
The Varsity and Jr. Varsity Volleyball teams hosted Hollister in a Central Ozark Conference game on September 27. The Varsity team defeated the Lady Tigers by the scores of 25-23 and 25-21. Danielle Curnes had eight kills while Hannah Gertson had 14 assists and Sabra Boes collected 15 digs for the Lady Wolves. The Varsity and Jr. Varsity teams traveled to Buffalo on September 29 for a COC contest. The Varsity ladies captured a victory over the Lady Bison by the scores of 23-25, 25-15 and 25-22. Danielle Curnes led in kills with 13 while Hannah Gertson had 24 assists and Sabra Boes totaled 26 digs for the night. The Jr. Varsity team won both of their contests against Hollister and Buffalo for the week. The Jr. Varsity team competed in the Glendale Tournament at Springfield on October 1. The team finished sixth overall in the tournament as they gained victories over Lebanon and Rogersville but lost contests to Willard, Glendale, Jefferson City Helias and Nixa. The seventh and eighth grade teams hosted Ava on September 26 and traveled to Nixa on September 29. The seventh grade team won both of their games while the eighth grade team lost their contests for the week. The Varsity team will participate in the Neosho Tournament on October 8 and will travel to Cassville on October 10. The Varsity and Jr. Varsity teams will then host Bolivar for a Central Ozark Conference game on October 13. This will be the final home contest of the season for both teams. The eighth grade team will participate in the Buffalo Tournament on October 8 before returning home along with the seventh grade team to host Marshfield on October 10 and Hollister on October 13.
The Lady Wolves Tennis team traveled to Springfield Kickapoo on September 26. The Varsity team fell to the Lady Chiefs by the score of 9-0. The Lady Wolves participated in the Central Ozark Conference Tournament at Rogersville on September 28. The team finished fourth overall in tournament play. The Girls Tennis team will complete participation in the Class 3 District Tournament at Rogersville on October 7.
The Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams participated in the Branson Invitational Meet on September 27. The Boys team finished in ninth place overall. Andre Morgenstern finished eighth in individual competition with a time of 18:29 minutes. Tony Miceli placed 25th with a time of 19:38 minutes. The Girls team placed fourth. Sam Akromis finished 14th with a time of 24:17 minutes while Josie Kibbe placed 19th with a time of 25:10 minutes. Jordan Blevins finished 25th with a time of 26:23 minutes. The Boys and Girls Teams participated in the Camdenton Invitational Meet on October 1. The Boys placed fifth in the Purple Division. Andre Morgenstern finished seventh individually as he posted a time of 17:32.37 minutes. Tony Miceli finished 17th with a time of 18:10.03 minutes. The Girls team finished fourth in the Purple Division. Joey Ash placed 15th with a time of 22:05.21 minutes while Sam Akromis finished 18th with a time of 22:23.16 minutes. The Boys and Girls teams will participate in the Central Ozark Conference Meet at Nixa on October 11.
