RFD-TV’s “Happy Trails” float won the “Tournament Special Trophy” for “exceptional merit in multiple classifications” in Monday’s 123rd Rose Parade. There were 24 trophies awarded among the 44 floats entered.
Millions of people along the parade route and on TV heard Dusty and Dustin Rogers, the High Riders and members of the Rogers family singing “Happy Trails.”[adsenseyu1]
The float was 75-feet long with a 35-foot high floral image of Roy Rogers, a silver horseshoe and a pair of pearl-handled six-shooters. The float was immediately preceded by riders on 100 Palomino horses holding American flags.
According to news reports, Sue Murphy arrived with her husband from Saco, Maine, for her first time at the parade. She had a banner that read “Happy Trails from Maine,” a salute to the cowboy star she grew up watching on TV.
