Second annual Branson ArborFest kickoff Oct 14
The Branson Tree Board is hosting the second annual Branson October Arborfest starting next week. The event was started last year to help beautify the city and educate residents about fall being the best time to plant trees.
ArborFest will be held from October 14 through 29 and will start with a kick-off event at 11 am on Friday, October 14 at the Cahill Trail on Cahill Road. The Tree Board, with help from the city’s public works and parks departments, will be planting three trees to help provide some shade and buffer next to the road.
In addition, some businesses have decided to participate in a discount program for Branson residents. With proof of Branson residency and a discount coupon, participating locations will give a 25% discount on select tree purchases between October 14 and October 29. The coupons are available at the Branson Planning Department in City Hall, on the city’s website, and at the following locations:
- Greenworks Nursery, 2979 Highway EE, Highlandville
- Tablerock Gardens, Highway 13, Kimberling City
- Opie’s Landscaping, Hollister
During the last week of ArborFest, the Tree Board and the Missouri Department of Conservation will be hosting a Tree Pest and Disease Clinic. The clinic will be held on Monday, October 24, from 9 am until 12 pm, at the Branson RecPlex. Anyone interested in having a tree issue identified needs to bring samples of the problem and detailed pictures of all parts of the tree. For further information please contact Tara Norback, city forester, at 337-8544
