Seligman’s police force down to one

The town of Seligman, in western Barry County, found itself with a much smaller police force after the town’s two officers quit in response to resignation of former police chief, Randy Kalbaugh.
Kalbaugh left his position after the town’s mayor, Jason Raucstadt and some aldermen questioned the chief about complaints he was running a speed trap on MO Highway 37.
Although the mayor felt the chief was issuing “an excessive number of tickets,” he said there were other concerns he and others had about the former chief.
The mayor has appointed a new chief, who is operating without any officers.
The town’s last major crime, the murder of Justin Holcutt, remains unsolved.
