Squadron 147 visits the Springfield Flying Service and the National Weather Service
On Saturday, September 17 Senior Members and Cadets of Table Rock Lake Composite Squadron 147 visited the Springfield Flying Service and the National Weather Service in Springfield, Mo.
Mr. Bill Johnmeyer of the Springfield Flying Service talked to the group about the different licenses that are needed for flying and the basics of flying, such as lift, thrust, gravity and drag. Mr. Johnmeyer also gave the group a tour of a Air Force T-34 trainer aircraft, as well as a Citation. His expertise on both aircraft was wonderful for the group to hear and seeing the planes up close was exciting.
The group then went to the National Weather Service where Mr. Mike Griffin talked at length about how the weather in this area, throughout the United States and around the globe is tracked and the we left the Weather Service with a much better understanding of tracking weather and downloading that information to the weather systems.
