Stone County Farm Family Honored
Ron and Patty DeLong of northwestern Stone County were among the 107 families honored during the Missouri State Fair’s Farm Family Day in August.
The DeLongs were selected as the Stone County Missouri State Fair Farm Family by the twenty-three member Stone County extension council with support from the Stone County Farm Bureau.
Each year the fair sets aside a day to recognize farm families from across the state that are active in their community, involved in agricultural activities and who participate in local extension educational programs.
The DeLongs operate a registered Jersey and registered Angus farm on 220 acres between Crane and Marionville. They began farming in 1970 and have been very active showing their registered cattle over the years. They have worked hard keep their farm debt-free as much as possible.
Ron and Patty often participate in extension educational programs in the community. They are members of the Missouri Jersey Cattle Club, Missouri Holstein Association and the American Quarter Horse Association.
The annual event was sponsored by Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Department of Agriculture, Missouri State Fair, University of Missouri Extension and the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.
The DeLongs are congratulated for a job well done and the extension council wishes them success in their future endeavors.
