Two suffer critical injuries in crash and fire
Two people were seriously injured Tuesday on Highway 248 east of the Stone County and taney County line.
The Highway Patrol reported that Lance Taylor, 38, and Sandy Taylor, 41, both of Walnut Shade, were injured when their car was struck by a vehicle operated by Sarah Mifflin, 20, of Forsyth.
Police said Mifflin crossed the center line of the highway and struck the Taylor’s vehicle, head-on.
Both Taylor’s were transported to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield where they were listed in serious condition. [adsenseyu1]Accorrding to the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District, which responded to the scene after a report of a vehicle fire, the air lift helicopter was unable to fly the patients, due to weather issues.
The District reported tha the Taylor vehicle was on fire when their crews arrived on the scene.
SSCFPD stated, “Dispatched to an MVC with fire and persons trapped. Units arrived to find the incident in Taney County. Two Vehicles near head on, one on fire one on it’s side. Two occupants of the vehicle on fire sustained critical injuries. The vehicle on its side had one occupant with minor injuries. All patients managed to get out of their vehicles on their own”.
