At 4:30 this afternoon firefighters from the Western Taney County Fire District along with Taney County Ambulance, Taney County Sheriff’s office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries on US Hwy 160 between Merriam Woods and Forsyth.
Upon arrival two vehicles were involved in a near head on collision. One vehicle ended up over the embankment with two occupants trapped inside. Firefighters using hydraulic rescue tools removed the doors on one side of the vehicle allow both occupants to be removed. The other driver involved was out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived and was treated by Taney County Ambulance Personnel on scene and released. Both occupants of the one vehicle were transported via Taney County Ambulance to area hospitals.
US Hwy 160 was closed for over an hour as the vehicles were removed from the scene causing significant delays and congestion on area roads. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol
