Vision for Kimberling City includes a state aquarium
More than 70 people attended Tuesday’s public meeting with the Kimberling City Vision Committee and students from Drury University.
The meeting, held at the Gathering Place, included a presentation by the students on what the envision the city could look like over the next 30 years.
With numerous ideas, ranging from a second bridge over Table Rock Lake, joining the residential section of the city to the commercial section, to extensive bike and walking trails, the most popular idea of the evening seemed to be locating a state aquarium in Kimberling.
The proposed Missouri State Aquarium would be built with state and federal funds and could be a study center for university students and biologists as well as a major tourist attraction.
While students admitted the concept would require a large amount of lobbying on both the state and federal levels, they, and many in attendance, felt it was something worth pursuing. The aquarium would be near and closely tied to a second part of the vision plan – a major downtown plaza in Kimberling City.
The next public meeting will be held on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at The Gathering Place.

I attended that meeting and was under the impression that lighting the bridge was the first important
Item to do first then the aquarium which had lots of support.
Thank you
Yes, the bridge was the first item of interest, and according to Alderwoman, Betty Kowalowich, that will be done shortly.
Thank you so much for your feedback.
