Watson & Watson Take Top Prize at the 32nd Annual Homer Sloan Buddy Bass Tournament
A beautiful foggy October morning at both Campbell Point and Kings River Marinas caused a 30 minute start delay to the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce 32nd Annual Homer Sloan Buddy Bass Tournament. Once the mists lifted, all 49 registered boats headed off for a warm and sunny day of fishing on Table Rock Lake. Fishermen began to gather at Campbell Point Marina around 4PM for the official weigh-in. Thirteen teams weighed in a total of 85.35 pounds of fish with Bill Watson of Shell Knob and James Watson of Waynesville, claiming the $750 payout for the “Biggest Stringer” honor with a total stringer weight of 13.95 pounds. Second place was claimed by Tim Good and Earl Capp with 10.65; third place went to Ron Youngblood and Wayne Youngblood with a stringer weight 10.30 pounds; fourth place finishers Robbie Dodson and Robert Dodson also weighed in at 10.30; and fifth place went to Jim Ramsey and Gary Marshall with a weight of 7.85.
The optional “Big Bass” prize was claimed by Ron & Wayne Youngblood with a fish weighing in at 6.80 lbs. Second place was Jim Ramsey and Gary Marshall for their 5.60 catch; third place went to Robert and Robbie Dodson with a 5.20 pounder; and 4th position was taken by Loren Patterson and John Rakestraw with a bass weighing 3.65.
A full steak dinner, provided by Country Fresh Market, T&J Marine and the Shell Knob Chamber of Commerce, and prepared by the Shell Knob Shrine Club, was enjoyed during the after-tournament awards ceremony held at the Shell Knob Recreation Area where door prizes, provided by local businesses, were also presented.
