Thursday, the Western Taney County Fire Protection District held a graduation ceremony for the latest firefighters to complete their basic firefighting course.
The recruits completed their training September 3rd, 2011 and were recognized during a ceremony attended by their fellow firefighters from the fire district as well as family and friends.
This latest group of recruits completed 60 hours of training to teach them the basics of firefighting.  Now that they have graduated their basic training, they will continue training as probationary firefighters during the next twelve months and will complete training on vehicle extrication, hazardous materials response, operation of fire apparatus, incident management training, and medical first responder training.
Since the completion of their academy, all nine firefighters have begun answering emergency calls.  Each of the firefighters have been assigned to one of the twelve stations located throught the approximately two hundred and twelve square mile area.
