As we move swiftly through October towards the end of the month many of us will begin to panic when we realize that we don’t have a clue what Halloween fancy dress costume we will choose to wear in 2011. The selection on offer grows exponentially each year and with many now looking to curb their budgets it’s more important than ever to purchase a costume that will give you value for money. With that in mind I took to the online high street to see what I could get that would turn heads for the right reasons and the wrong.

Hot Halloween Fancy Dress Costumes for Men and Women

Obviously the big Halloween outfits for the next few years at least will revolve around the superhero universes. Thor and Captain America were introduced to mainstream cinema audiences in preparation for the Avengers mega movie due out in 2012 so buying one of these costumes now will put you in good sted for at least two years. This also applies to the Black Widow and Pepper Potts, who will also feature in 2012 and beyond for you ladies. Add a slinky black latex catsuit to the mix for the new Dark Knight Rises catwoman costume and we have ourselves a few nice options.

Anyone that tells me that they’ve not seen any zombies on television or in a movie this year has been living in a hole in the ground as they’ve been everywhere! Most notably the Frank Darabont directed first series of the Walking Dead will surely influence many of us to rip our old clothes up and let fly with the fake blood. Start dragging your leg and moaning like the undead to produce a top notch zombie costume.

We always have a few outfits that come up that make me shake my head in disagreement. The Osama Bin Laden costume will surely do the rounds this year but I implore you to change your mind. It might have been entertaining a few years ago but the jokes worn thin already. Pick something original or don’t bother at all!

Ladies, if I see another slave Leia costume this year I might well go insane. Again, my advice is to get original or stay at home. Don’t get me wrong I love the Leia outfit as much as the next man, but we’ve seen it all before and I like a variety.
