When in the course…

 

“When in the course of human events….”
Those words elicit emotions from any true American. They refer to a time in our history when those who governed the populace had little or no concern for those they governed. Indeed, across the Atlantic, those in parliament had little regard for their subjects across the waves.
Of course, even a student in elementary school knows what happened next. The birth of a new nation did not come without pain and sacrifice.
Now, 265 years later, many of us again turn to those words, “When in the course of human events…”
Indeed, our current government in Washington, D.C. seems less interested in the citizens than they do in the lobbyists who line their pockets in search of favorable legislation. The will of the American people is ignored by these politicians who have managed to drive this great nation into the depths of recession, have managed to have us despised by much of the world and have reduced our work output by more than 50 percent over the past five decades.
The federal government, as it exists, is broken.
Despite all of the signs of a collapse of democracy, far too many Americans sit idly by and hope things will change. The simple fact is, they won’t.
As long as we, the people, allow big business to run our government, and through them, our lives, democracy will be a failed experiment. We must exercise our collective voice and demand those who should serve at our will, do so or it is our duty to force them out of office.
Now, to call for a revolution of such magnitude might be construed as treason by some. Perhaps they do not understand that only by forcing our elected officials to act on our behalf, do we uphold the great principal of democracy.
It does not require an armed overthrow as so many other countries do. Here, a simple recall vote of every U.S. Senator and Congressman has the same effect. A march of people on Washington, D.C. would also serve as notice that we are taking our government back from these greedy, self-serving individuals. Imagine, two or three million Americans assembling peacefully in front of the Capitol building.
There are no Constitutional laws that protect those who serve from those they serve, for the drafters of the Constitution knew the danger of unchecked government. In fact, the Constitution is vocal on the point of citizens’ rights, yet silent on the rights of those who serve at our will.
So, ask yourself today, are you happy with our federal government? Do they serve your interests or theirs? Are you willing to allow Democracy to fade from the face of the earth?
Those who do nothing, do nothing of value for mankind.

    I’ve had it with bickering, finger pointing politicians who tell me one thing and do another.

    Letter to the editor:
    From The Declaration of Independence: “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it…”.

    I was going to list all the reasons that the regular, everyday people need to take back our government. I’m not talking about taking it back from a particular party. I’m talking politicians, period.

    I decided instead to focus on one reason. That reason is; why would a man or woman spend untold amounts of money to be elected to office?

    The reason they do it is because there’s something in it for them. That something, in most cases, is not because they care about nothing more than doing what’s best for their country and fellow countrymen.

    We have let the political system evolve into a profit motivated position. These politicians in Washington DC have a good paying job with a lifetime of benefits, benefits that they gave to themselves. There is so much wrong with that I can’t even begin to list them all.

    There is a movement underway to take back our country and return it to citizen representatives who care about America.

    It has never been more important since the founding for you to step up and do your part. You don’t have to do it all, just your part as an American.
